PREMIERE | THE WARHORSE – “High for This”

Nothing amps my week more than to premiere THE WARHORSE’s glorious redux of the 2011 The Weeknd’s hit, “High for This.” For this Los Angeles based synthwave/electroclash band, it is nothing short of courageous to successfully make a banger rendition of one of the top pop songs of this decade. Their rendition sounds completely fresh and different from the original: wrangling in their influences of 80s party pop, thrashy garage punk, and modern chill wave. This song is perfect for fans of 1980s synthesizer music (who isn’t?!) and artists such as Kavinsky, Com Truise, Electric Youth, Grum, and Miami Nights 1984. In addition to the featured vocals from Aaron Staniulis and top notch production, my favorite part of this track is the sexy sax solos from Aaron Leibowitz, who is on tour with ZHU in 2016. “High for This” comes from the debut album CHUBS due out Oct. 1, 2016, and is available for preorder at www.IAMTHEWARHORSE.com.
