So this came out of nowhere and is going to absolutely crush. Las Vegas-based singer Shamir Bailey, or Shamir, has teamed up with NY label Godmode for a disco house masterpiece in the form of the Northtown EP. The sound is raw and groovy with a ton of pop appeal and an underground dance spirit. It’s a sound that draws from a ton of different places and definitely has it’s own unique vibe, but fits comfortably amongst peers like DFA and Greco Roman’s Tirzah. Each of the tracks works as an easy single, running the genre gamut from acid house to playful disco and even a country ballad, serving as a nice intro to an exciting new artist.
