Chicago’s Autograf, the mallethaus producers whose epic vocal number “Metaphysical” has been making the rounds, has just gotten a sensational refix by one of Blisspop’s local favorites. Eau Claire, a young D.C. producer who has gotten much love from us in the past, flips Autograf’s pop-by-way-of-deep-house track into an ethereal night sky comprised of warm bass and transcendent pads.
This marks a departure for Eau Claire: less indie dance and more in line with the emotive touches one can expect from a producer like Jonas Rathsman, her take on “Metaphysical” is grounded in the more headspacey side of house and finds her wandering through foreign territory like she’s been doing this from the very start. It’s refreshing to see her maintaining a sense of lightheartedness in the number as well, punctuating her remix with the staple horns we’ve seen in many of her other works.
It’s heavy and it’s cozy and it shows a new maturity. This remix is blessed by the heavens.
