909 Til Infinity, “Bee”

With the combined talents of Manik and Option4, you have the new duo 909 Til Infinity whose first single, “Bee,” is now out on Treasure Fingers’ new imprint, Psycho Disco. The cut, which makes great use of Option4 and Manik’s uniqueness as producers, is a filthy, bass thrusting ode to hard pumping, urban house music that bangs, breaks, beats, pounds, and just downright gives no damns.

With a brilliantly simple vocal that literally asks us to shake it, albeit like a “dirty martini,” this is the kind of edit that crosses over magnificently into the mainstream; in many ways, “Bee” feels like a long lost companion piece to artists from Dirtybird like Justin Martin or Shiba San, but chose to go out and adventure the world on its own terms. It comes from out of left field, accentuated with elongated whirs and chirps, and asks listeners to be able to not take the music so seriously. It’s fun, funky G-house at the core with a sense of humor on its sleeve.

With this nod to their contemporaries, while choosing to try and forge their own jacking path, Manik and Option4’s new project 909 Til Infinity – based on this initial release – looks like the beginning of a wonderful friendship.
