I’m going to go ahead and call this as one of the top 5 releases of the year. Wayne Snow is a Nigerian born vocalist and songwriter who recently collaborate with label mate Max Graef. Red Runner is his first release, and it’s a pretty flawless way to kick off a career. The title track is ridiculously addicting, pairing a loose jazzy house groove with Snow’s soulful vocals. It’s upbeat and funky while sexy and summery. “Under The Blue Moon†slows things down, working a island tinged soul track over a lazy hip hop beat and warm synth chords. If both these tracks weren’t good enough, they called in both Glenn Astro and Session Victim for remix duties. The Glenn Astro rework keeps the jazzy feel of the original but kicks up the energy a bit, making for a more club friendly groove. The record closes with Session Victim work their magic on the title track as well, tightening the groove for a lightly disco leaning house rerub centering around the song’s refrain. The only real negative is the songs as only available in preview form at the moment, but July isn’t too far away! Take a listen:
