With such a high demand for a tasteful bassline in dance music, under-rated Sheffield DJ/producer Walter Ego does not disappoint by producing a stunning 3 track EP titled Shadows released under Kastle’s label Symbols Recordings. Commonly know for more of his grime-UK funk-2-step productions, Walter Ego goes a little deeper with this EP. The first track “Shadows†can be comparable to the works of Burial, beautifully written using chopped up manipulated vocals, with a strong 2-step percussion. Shaking it up a bit with the next track “Rebounds,†provides an upbeat, groovy garage beat with playful, broken vocals that is perfect for any dancefloor. The last track is a breathtaking remix of “Shadows†by Inkarv. Using R&B influences, Inkarv takes “Shadows†to a deeper-soulful side, using minimal 2-step percussion, passionate vocal samples, then followed by gorgeous guitar riffs.
