This is 2015’s answer to last year’s grimy, filthy, lovely “Rhymes” by Hannah Wants and Chris Lorenzo. Admittedly, we are very behind on this track. It’s been making the rounds since early fall and has been featured in heavy rotation by multiple BBC Radio tastemakers, specifically Annie Mac, and has quickly become a hype go-to for some of the DJ world’s most in demand talents such as Chris Lake, The Magician, and Oliver Heldens.
“Rinse and Repeat,” a banger by the U.K.’s Riton featuring New York’s Kah-lo on vocal, is the type of house edit which sparks chaos on the dancefloor: a hint of acid, colossal bass, and anarchic percussion sprinkled with a message that literally says “It’s time to make the club go up / it’s time to shut this bitch down.” And just like much of the garage and 2-step seeping its way into the United States, Riton’s grit stays tried and true in the product establishing a dominant attitude that kicks from the first notes of the tune.
The importance here isn’t 100% on the fact that it’s a banger. That’s self-evident. It’s moreso a sign of a significant cultural shift and expanded taste in house music. The fact that this track is as commercial as it is, quite frankly, is astonishingly pleasant (and not just because it makes us want to throw some gasoline on top just to make this heater into a straight up bomb).
