PREMIERE: Bobby Shmurda – Hot Nigga (Mowx Remix)

It’s already 2015, but that doesn’t mean we have to leave Bobby Shmurda’s ubiquitous “Hot Nigga” (and its accompanying Shmoney Dance) in 2014. Austria native and Proper Vibes signee Mowx just debuted his first release on the label, and his take on this track is “emoji fuego,” as the kids these days would say. Mowx flips Mr. Shmurda’s song on its head and transforms it into a faster, playful, and upbeat track, complete with a bright saxophone solo over Shmurda’s slick rap during the chorus. Clocking in at only 2 minutes and 32 seconds, this remix is bold and in your face — a serious jam from start to finish.

Mowx’s reinterpretation of this song is unexpected, but in the absolute best way. His tracks all share this same brightness and energy that is so refreshing to hear during a time when a lot of artists seem to be taking themselves far too seriously. Mowx revitalized a track that we might have all gotten sick of hearing, and made it something completely his own, without any frills or gimmicks.
