Moon Boots, “Red Sky”

No stranger to finding ways around Earth’s gravitational pull with his uplifting melodies and rich beats, Moon Boots has us falling in love again with his recent debut on Anjunadeep. The track, “Red Sky,” is a pleasant breeze of charming synths and arpeggios that extend into the sky with enchanting plumage. It’s as if he took a moment and looked back on “Magic” from a few months ago, reminisced on the effortless bounce of that track, and wanted to continue that feel – something that makes this track, and many of the tracks in his bag, comforting and cozy to listen to. His beginnings as an 80’s R&B/boogie influenced nudisco producer also brings some flavor to the table here: soulful vocal samples bring an alluring warmth to this track and the use of pads, which are the whimsical 80’s-y kind that brings Com Truise to mind, filter out any self-aware artifice. Moon Boots makes music that feels good and nourishing. It’s like chicken soup for the house fanatic’s soul.
