Luca Lush, “Velvet Girls”

The feeling of youth is something producers try to capture relentlessly. It’s a fleeting, flash-in-the-pan ideal that escapes even the most talented musicians, but somehow dance music, for some, is the tonic to this conundrum. Oozing positivity, New York’s Luca Lush continually seems to have a natural gravitation towards this theme in his work and it couldn’t be more apparent in his latest offering, “Velvet Girls.”

Opening the track with a symphony of pads and chirping birds which exude pure, interstitial vibes and a voiceover about the reflection of self, the track eventually winds into an auto-tuned vocal that careens and floats over the ambient, almost chip-tune soundscape. It’s a bright, billowy banger of a track that warms the soul and almost seems custom made for rooftop, sunset crowds. And, seeing as it’s currently a free download, it’s definitely not one to pass up.
