After featured spots on Beats 1 Radio and Triple J, Sydney indie soul voice Ross Henry is making the rounds with his recent rework of ambient, escapist post-rock staples Explosions in the Sky. Free from pretense other than a need to express himself through making something which feels otherworldly, Ross Henry captures a haunting beauty which could be summarized as the fuzzies you get when you think of denim clad youths holding hands in an autumnal graveyard. His rework feels like an extension of a fragmented memory: a place and a time and a thought, but ultimately floating in a sea of other moments.
Drifting through downtempo percussion and warm guitar melodies, his vision of “Home” is remarkably comfortable and has a glow about it; the same kind of glow that comes to mind when discussion the track’s original makers, Explosions in the Sky, as well as their contemporaries. In capturing this essence, Henry is masterful in imitation while delivering  a personal touch with added vocals, percussion choices, and a pleasurable rise and fall dynamic showing true talent and a penchant for IDM going forward.
