Chet Faker – 1998 (NTEIBINT & Homework Remixes)

Chet Faker’s “1998” has easily been one of my most played songs this year. The vocals have such an addicting bittersweet quality that mixes perfectly with the laid-back house influenced production of the track. The vocal melody is pretty unforgettable as well. Luckily they’ve decided to release it as a single and as such have started to roll out the remixes, giving us all the more reason to listen incessantly. The first notable one is a slow disco rework courtesy of Greece’s NTEIBINT. It has a nice summer feel to it with airy pads and a retro feeling bass groove. House heavyweights Homework also took a stab at the track, working it into a hazy house jam with jazzy analog percussion, warm chords, and echoes of the vocals fading in and out.
