Grammy nominated downtempo music producer, Bonobo, returns to Washington DC for a live performance at 9:30 Club as part of his Fragments Live Tour this Thursday, March 3rd. On tour, Bonobo is showcasing his latest and greatest seventh studio album, Fragments. Fragments is best described as pensive, cinematic soundscapes woven into intricate drum production and instrumentation.
Bonobo’s live performances are unparalleled in the world of live electronic music. For many artists, it can be extremely difficult to translate a produced album to a live performance. This is especially with the heavy-handed sampling that Bonobo tends to lean into with his downtempo music. Despite this challenge, Bonobo has consistently brought the heat during his past live concert tours with accompanying vocalists, chamber ensembles, horn sections, live percussion and instrumentation over the years.
This tour, Bonobo has support from Jordan Rakei, a New Zealand-Australian musician, singer, songwriter and record producer based currently in the UK. Jordan is a masterful vocalist (with a style akin to Jeff Buckley) whose musical aesthetic blends seamlessly with Bonobo’s. Jordan was even featured on Bonobo’s latest album!
Tickets are on sale for his upcoming show this Thursday via 9:30 Club’s website. Doors open at 7pm.
