Released last week, Robert Dietz’s sophomore EP on Running Back has quickly started popping up around the dance music realm. The EP itself is an enjoyable deep house workout, but the real winner here is the second track, entitled “Nostaljack.” It takes a minute to kick in as the intro builds the groove out of toms and tablas over a house beat, but things gradually open up to unveil one of the most enjoyable house tracks of the year. Dietz builds the track around re-sampled chords and vocal chops, with the 4/4 kick pounding out the lower register. It’s efficient and seeped in old school vibes. If you were a fan of Paul Woolford’s smash “Untitled” earlier this year, then this track is right up your alley.
