Paul Woolford‘s alter-ego, Special Request, brings the underground forefront showcasing influences stemming from the dark, gritty, UK grime scene and his impeccable attention to detail. With the release of his Modern Warfare EP project through XL Recordings on October 30, a series of 3 12″ records in limited batches just like the good ol’ days, he’s been making the rounds with “Amnesia.” A particularly ravey cut that builds from jaw dropping breakbeats and Woolford’s signature piano stabs, “Amnesia” is a massive festival style party track that will no doubt heat up various clubs as we go further into autumn. It’s a slammer of a house rhythm which has that kind of undeterminable flair that all house music classics possess: the flair that asks for breaking, bouncing, and jacking. The kind of flair that allows it to be a sneaky chameleon which charms its way into a set and doesn’t feel out of place.
Hello, ravers. Welcome to the first major house track of next year.
