Passion Pit, “Sleepyhead (Cerulean City Remix)”

Watch out. Wave Age and Bisbeaux are coming for you. These two D.C. based producers have joined forces to form Cerulean City, a side project that they lovingly describe as “House + Pop = Blastoise,” which they have been slowly brewing over the course of the past few months. This is evident in the pairing’s first credit, a confectionary, four-on-the-floor restructuring of Passion Pit’s unavoidable electro-pop hit “Sleepyhead,” as it’s very much a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Disguised as a throwback remix in the style of Autograf or Eau Claire, their edit shifts to a much more house oriented thumper of which will make heads swirl, shoulders bounce, feet pump, and souls soar; carefree melodies and sunnyside synths are the backbone of the production giving their remix a heightened sense of pop when compared to the original.

With more tracks to come on the horizon which have been teased at several gigs since late last year, Cerulean City is a duo that the indie dance scene and pop music aficionados want to keep tabs on. Stream their remix below and be sure to look them up on social media outlets like Facebook and SoundCloud.
