REMIX OF THE YEAR 2014

Basement Jaxx – Never Say Never (Mark Knight Remix)

Caleb: This is probably the most fun track of the year. Mark Knight gave the already awesome vocals the perfect amount of bounce with big melodies and a massive uplifting vibe. It’s almost a little cheesy, but the appeal is undeniable. This one is guaranteed to make me bounce around the booth like a little kid on crack

Chromeo – Jealous (Hotel Garuda X Sweekuh Remix)

Shawn: This was probably the toughest selection to make this year, but Hotel Garuda stepped up their game in mid to late 2014 and along with Sweekuh this was their greatest gift of the year. Not only did they touch up an amazing original production, they made it their own by introducing their very own style with deep saxophone cuts and high piano crescendos. Hotel Garuda is a name to know going into 2015 and this track is a major reason why.

Honorable Mentions: “Take Me (Miguel Campbell Remix)” RÜFÜS; “My Friends Got A Summing Pool (The Magician Remix)” Mausi; “Money On My Mind (Le Youth Remix)” Sam Smith

Ed Ed – I Got (Something You Need) (Oliver Dollar Remix)

Philco: With an earth shattering Bass and Drum combo, Oliver Dollar’s take on Ed Ed’s “I Got (Something You Need)” is an absolute club smasher. Using sparing vocals from the original and assorted percussion throughout the track, the lengthy buildups lead into well crafted punchy drops, making this one a dance floor favorite.

Honorable mentions: Shadow Child “Friday” (MK Medicine Dub), Tito Wun “The Way You Do It” (Doc Daneeka Remix), Clean Bandit ft. Jess Glynne “Rather Be” (The Magician Remix)

Usher – Good Kisser (Disclosure Remix)

Zach: Like King Midas, everything the Lawrence Brothers touch is gold. From the stellar tracks they recently produced with Mary J. Blige to the work they’ve done with the ovary bursting Sam Smith, Disclosure always delivers a fresh, cool, and expertly tuned product. Their re-work of Usher’s super sexy track “Good Kisser” is no exception as they lay on thick drum loops and their signature synth sound to lovely effect.

Honorable Mentions: “I Got U (MK Remix)” Duke Dumont, “Ultraviolence (Disciples Remix)” Lana Del Rey, “Liberate (Lane 8 Remix)” Eric Prydz
