This month’s Magic Tape 8 by The Magician brought with it the usual collection of delicious tracks, including one particularly great remix that brought to my attention the (rapidly) up-and-coming nu-disco artist, Plastic Plates.
Plastic Plates (aka ?lastic ?lates aka PLAST!C PLATES) is long-time musician and percussionist Felix Bloxsom from Sydney, Australia. No stranger to the professional music scene (which is quite evident from every one of his tracks), Bloxson studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and has played/Djed internationally, playing with artists including Sia, Daniel Merriweather, Empire of the Sun and others. Now living in L.A., Plastic Plates has been creating some amazing synth-disco remixes which you can catch over at his Soundcloud.
The Plastic Plates remix of ‘Social Studies’ has you feeling like you’re at an intergalactic happy-hour, gliding through space at a breezy 100 bpm.
