Melé, “Body Thing”

After crushing the summer of 2015 with the tribal riddim banger “Ambience,” UK firestarter Melé has his first release of 2016 via Redlight’s Lobster Boy label. Following in the tradition set forth by “Ambience,” Melé’s newest track, “Body Thing,” is a howling cry into the dark chamber of the rave with the percussive, savage, borderline animal beats that  beg for us to tap into our instinctual urge to rage against the night. “Body Thing” feels authentic from start to end much like how Paul Simon’s love for world music made Graceland feel genuine; it doesn’t come off as a gimmick, but rather a discovery of how other cultural sounds can elevate a piece of work and make it distinctive among the masses.
