Kygo – Firestone (Alex Brandt’s Saxual Remix)

It’s incredibly hard to deny Kygo’s success at this point. In a little over a year, he’s ushered in a new subgenre of house, gotten support from the likes of Diplo, Avicii, and Pete Tong, played almost every major dance music stage, and he signed a major label deal with überlabel Ultra Records. In other words, Kygo is kind of a big deal.

Riding this wave with major sax appeal is Germany’s Alex Brandt who has quite the record himself having remixed artists such as Motez, Foster the People, and Klangkarussell with panache. Here, Brandt is tackling Kygo’s Firestone: a track that was already really warm, fuzzy, and vibey to begin with. But Brandt infuses the track with his trademark style that blends soulful saxophone with emotive bass and cycling synth patterns that crash like waves and ease the mind. The end result is a spot on remix that calms and soothes without sacrificing the essential pump which make our blood rush through our veins and into our spirit.
