Feature | Mild Minds – Swim EP

There’s some mystery surrounding the identity of new artist Mild Minds (rumor has it he’s really Benjamin Plant, creator of Miami Horror, but this has yet to be confirmed) but one thing for sure is his music is straightforward, feel-good, electronic dance music with just the right amount of synth, soul and seductiveness. Swim is Mild Minds’ three track debut EP that was only released last week on Foreign Family Collective, a new imprint from the duo behind ODESZA, but is already generating some pretty good underground buzz.

The tempo progressiveness in each track is what I like most about this EP, which opens with the laid back title track that definitely sets the vibe and tone for what’s to come. Track two is the synthy “Weak Signals” where Mild Mind’s dreamy layered vocals (that at times remind me a little bit of  Toro y Moi) pair well with a smooth beat that has just enough oomph to keep you moving while still in the chill zone. The final track takes it up a bit with the dance floor ready “Don’t Want Ur Luv.” Hopefully this EP will serve as a precursor to an upcoming full length sometime soon, but for now, enjoy the debut!
