While he is best known for being a long-time member of Australian indie dance icons Cut Copy, bassist (and former DC resident) Ben Browning also creates his own brand of sun-kissed, dancefloor friendly electronic music. After releasing his well-received debut solo album “Turns” back in 2015, he is preparing to deliver the follow-up “Even Though,” with its first single being released on May 11, the magnificent summer-filled disco tune “Sunshine Baby”.
The opening guitar lick and keyboard stabs give way to a shiny Italo disco inspired chord progression and Browning’s laid back vocal delivery. From out of nowhere, shortly after the one-minute mark, the track gets an airy vocal lift from fellow Australian artist Woodes, quickly turning into a dreamy duet. The production is clean and crisp and the mood is set with vintage synths and calming percussion. The pool party vibes are strong on this track, and make no mistake, a tune this strong should be added to many summer playlists this year.
You can stream and download “Sunshine Baby” now. “Even Though” will be released on June 22. Both are being released via Yellow Year Records. Listen here:
