New DC-based producer, Devaughn Banville, just dropped the initial track from his forthcoming Penance E.P. The song starts with a heavy bass groove that could just as easily lead to a pounding techno stomper, but quickly opens to a lush sound scape of warm synth swells and hazy, retro-tinged leads interrupted by breaks of bell arpeggios. There’s a ruthless tech house feel here that’s really nicely balanced by a late night summer vibe and soulful vocals. Take a listen below:
