On March 17, 2010, Blisspop’s founder Will Eastman opened U Street Music Hall, and ten years later, the club is still going strong and ready to celebrate its ten-year anniversary. From March 13-22, U Hall will host a variety of acts to help promote the anniversary, and Blisspop is excited to host one of the opening night’s performances, a disco DJ set from SG Lewis.
SG Lewis is a native of Reading, England and is a singer, songwriter and producer alongside being a DJ. Inspired by a variety of artists ranging from Bon Iver to Timbaland, he began creating his own tracks in his teen years and landed a DJ residency at Liverpool club Chibuku, where he was able to listen to and be inspired by a wide variety of genres.
After signing to PMR Records in 2014, SG Lewis released his debut EP Shivers the following year and since then, his career has taken off in a major way. Four more EPs later, his talents have attracted notice from other artists, leading to collaborations with such talents as Clairo, AlunaGeorge and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (TEED), and he is even dipping his foot into the pop songwriting world, co-writing tracks for LANY and Dua Lipa. With this stellar resume, it is quite clear that big things are happening for Lewis and that his star has not stopped rising yet.
Support will be provided by Eastman. Tickets are still available and can be purchased on U Hall’s website. Attendees ages 18-20 must purchase their ticket in advance.
Take a listen to some of SG Lewis’ top tracks to get ready for Friday night. We can’t wait to see you there and celebrate this milestone with you!
