This is your dose of the Blisspop Daily News for today, Wednesday, September 2, 2015. You can almost smell the pumpkin spice everything, can’t you…? Let’s get started.
- M.I.A. revealed on Instagram that Sonny Moore – you know, the former lead singer of From First to Last – is one of the talents working on her upcoming album. This means that the sweet sounds of Optimus Prime throwing up after drinking too much Pennzoil will make an appearance on her LP, Matahdatah.
- Paris Hilton threw a charity event in Ibiza for a local non-profit specializing in providing needs to children with mental, cognitive, and sensory disabilities. Gift bags given to attendees included a DVD set of the entire third season of The Simple Life.
- Panasonic announced plans to revive their Technics line of turntables. The Technic 1200, which stopped being manufactured in 2010, is considered by most to be the industry standard for DJ’ing with vinyl. Or, for most young producers, it’s the thing that sits in the corner of the DJ booth while they plug in their Traktor controller.
- Belgian artist Stromae is promoting his North American tour with a series of YouTube videos featuring him in random locations teaching his tracks to passersby. Most New Yorkers, on the other hand, saw a skinny, nerdy black kid and thought Steve Urkel was making a comeback.*
- There’s a new app for the dating/despondent hook-up crowd called Mix’d. Basically it’s Tinder for people who are going out to the club or the festival or the Techno Addict Anonymous meeting at the local YMCA. On the bright side, at least we know ahead of time if a guy or girl likes tropical house. Kygo? SWIPE LEFT.
