Each week our contributors shed some light upon their favorite goings-on in the music realm. Here’s what we like to call our “Weekly Round-Upâ€:

We haven’t mentioned the Clouds full length that came out July 1st on Turbo. We wish we could have had them on our Turbo Records night this Saturday at BLISS, but sadly there are only so many hours in a night. There’s something about Scottish weather that breeds great Techno. Gary Beck says it’s because “there’s nothing else to do there but drink beer and make Techno.” Resident Advisor calls Ghost Systems Rave “one of the best techno full-lengths of the year” and Mixmag says “9/10 Album of the month”. Let’s be honest, there aren’t copious numbers of full length techno albums being released these days, but this is one of the better so far this year in both techno and left-field dance music in general. Have a listen, and list your nominees in the comments below.

I recently got Drums of Death’s Blue Waves EP and have been listening to the track “Waves City”nonstop. It’s a sprawling 7+ minutes track that feels like it should soundtrack one of the underwater city levels in Sonic The Hedgehog, and the best phrase I can find to describe it is “really coo.l” Deetron’s new Character single is also getting a lot of play, but specifically the B-side “Can’t Love You More.” It has a nice laid back vibe and just makes for a really easy to listen to, unobtrusive house track.

I’ve been playing a bit of catch-up with music from Copenhagen-based producer Jesper Ryom, whose bright and breezy remix of Sleep Party People’s “Chin” has been stuck in my head for about two weeks. I first heard his remix of “Chin” in the fall of last year, but lately this song has been crucial in powering me through some dreadfully groggy mornings. Ryom’s latest EP Syvsover mellows out the summer heat with similarly a light and icy vibe.

Juggling a lot of different things this week (wedding, house hunting, getting sucked into summer reading), and music time has just been focused on prepping for the BBQ stage at the Mad Decent Block Party next week. I liked the recent Loefah interview on thevinylfactory.com, and earlier today I read an interview with Chicago juke/footwork artist DJ Rashad.

July 31st, the Deep Sessions crew bring DC Amit (live), Kahn & Neek, and Joe Nice all under one roof at U Street Music Hall for a night of incredible deep bass music. Truly going to be an inspirational night where we all celebrate deep rooted music. Really excited about this one. We are all surrounded by sound, so how do some of the most popular clubs produce that sound? Definitely put my mind into perspective when learning about how and why certain sound systems for clubs like Pacha, DC-10, and Privileged work to create an atmosphere in Ibiza. Resident Advisor gives you a summary of 6 clubs and their sound systems. Rolling Stones has their mid-year report on their unranked best albums of 2013 up already. Not surprising to see Justin Timberlake or Kanye West listed, but RS also featured Daft Punk and Disclosure.
Charles:
Super excited for Jack Dixon’s forthcoming inaugural release on new imprint Tender Hooks in a couple of weeks. A bit rougher around the edges than his typical fare, but the teaser he’s posted to Soundcloud proves that it’s destined to deliver.

Another treat came this week via the immaculate RinseFM, which hosted Daniel Avery and Kolsch back-to-back. The mix is chock full of otherworldly tracks and, as per usual, is free for the taking.
