Today, veteran deep house DJ, Tom Middleton, drops a four-track rework of his summer 2015 club hit, “HEVA.†The first time I heard the original version of the song was when I was fervently listening to the popular podcast, Group Therapy, featuring an episode of Above & Beyond and Tom Middleton. You can listen to the original version of “HEVA” here.
With Middleton’s upcoming release, I think he has successfully accomplished what few musicians are capable of, which is to take the essence of his original hit and craft it into something greater. The package features two of his own reworks, an ambient mix and a two-step remix, and also includes remixes from German house producer and fellow Anjunadeep label mate, Vincenzo, and upcoming UK Garage producer, Geode.
Of the remixes, I had the opportunity to listen to Middleton’s ambient mix on Soundcloud:

The ambient mix is a captivating dreamscape perfect to lose yourself in the moment: complete with with celestial cadenzas and arpeggiation, hypnotic vocals, and cascading filters to drive the song. The bass has presence, yet keeps me yearning for more. I can’t help but feel a sentiment of freedom and bliss in the expansive, lush textures. Overall, I am eagerly looking forward to getting my hands on the full release today via Anjunadeep’s website.
