Back in July Mr. Bonkerz introduced us to the groovy disco house tunes of Tiger & Woods with the track “Time” and the story (or lack thereof) behind their secret identities, stating that Googling the duo was fruitless and “unless you’ve seen them live, you won’t know what they look like.” Well this past weekend Tiger & Woods made their US DEBUT at the Lets Play House party in Brooklyn and both Bonkerz and I were THRILLED to make it to the bound-to-be-funky show.

If you had a chance to listen to the Through the Green LP you know that these tunes are no joke. It is truly “an essential purchase if you love disco house” and seeing them live was more than a treat. The party started at 10 and featured a slew of rad DJs and producers including Slow Hands, PillowTalk, Soho88 and Runaway who hosted the party. We arrived just as Slow Hands was dropping a funky old-school disco set, keepin’ the vibes high and funky while an assortment of music-heads from around the city and beyond began rolling in and getting loose. Getting closer to the portable speakers was key to really enjoy the depth of the sound, but getting anywhere near to the turntables proved to be a challenge against crowds.
Tiger & Woods showed up at the peak of the party right around 1:30 am, dropping tune after tune off of their LP, keeping everyone moving their feet in a state of sheer bliss for a little over an hour. The complex layering of funky space-out sounds and perfectly timed, sharp drops created the perfect dance party. Getting a glimpse of the disco dudes was not easy however, they were definitely trying to remain anonymous with hats and ‘staches and a constant cloud of secrecy around the decks at all times.
The ridiculous beats that were dropped all night long at Lets Play House definitely put a spell on the whole place, keeping everyone in a groove all night long.
Check out my favorite Tiger & Woods track “Kissmetellme“Â which I danced my ass off to when they played…also check out a super-dirty remix that I’m diggin’ right now that T&W did for Body Language.
It seems it was a disco party everywhere this weekend, including the BLISS 11 year anniversary in DC which was also a reported dance-fest. Keep the Disco comin’!
