Option 4, Denver party monster and DJ, had a crazy 2015. Aside from creating a new side project with Manik, 909 Til Infinity, the producer went on tour with the likes of Duke Dumont and was featured on the HARD Summer line-up. 2016 will see a change in direction for him, however, which is looking incredibly bright, eccentric, and wholeheartedly pure.
His first release of 2016, out now on Aussie label Sweat It Out‘s Club Sweat imprint, is a doozy of a driving EP called “Activate.” The title track, clearly meant for peak hour play, has a crazy pusher of a synth and bass combo held together with percussion that calls Salt-N-Pepa to mind. It’s woozy, odd, and absolutely different for a club track making it the kind of unique piece of music which will stay fresh on people’s minds early into the morning and on into the next day.
The B-side, titled “DOAUK,” is a whole other wavelength entirely. Option 4 is known for his ability to shape shift and breach into other genres without breaking a sweat and “DOAUK” plays a fabulous yin to the yang present in “Activate.” Following in the atmospheric, deep footsteps of contemporaries like Kink and Kölsch, “DOAUK” marks a true departure in style for the Colorado based producer as it grooves in between the cracks in true IDM meets house style. The B-side is cerebral, timeless, and effortlessly organic in its structure.
Listen to both tracks below and be sure to pick it up ASAP.
