After releasing “Richard” with P. Keys, all has been quiet on the Julius Jetson front. Now, like a moth to a flame or Dirtybird’s Justin Martin to a slice of pizza, the D.C. based producer has come back to us with his latest g-house by way of tech house dancefloor cruncher.
With a title as blunt as “Gangsta,” Jetson delivers a deft, bass heavy punch without batting an eyelash. A jacking groove through and through that sits alongside his recent efforts as kooky, whimsical, and simply enjoyable, “Gangsta” is a short, but sweet number which feels fresh while conjuring the reasons we started following him in the first place. Julius Jetson is the kind of artist who likes to remind us that dance music can be about being a cheeky bugger while crafting something that is both incredibly detail oriented and surgically precise; the wonky siren paired with his token clap and sampling style is a testament to this sensibility.
