After a solid year of releases on Jaymo and Andy George’s Moda Black imprint, Hauswerks delivers another strong EP to the label’s roster, this one entitled Nine to Five. While staying true to his remarkably clean yet dark sound from previous Moda Black releases, the Spanish producer provides enough versatility on Nine to Five to keep ears perked and feet moving. “No Escape†smoothly introduces the three-track EP with its delicate balance of tropical vibes and melancholia. The song nearly tips towards pop appeal with its stripped down production under the sensuous vocals of K:MiSS. Hauswerks then turns the energy up a notch with “Worth the Wait,†a pounding anthem of 50 Cent samples boosted by a build-up akin to a progressive house track. The final and lengthiest tune of the EP, “I Live Inside Your Mind,†scatters Phaedra Penny’s warped whispers across an uninhibited sonic jungle.
