Steve Mensink is one of our favorite up and coming producers. His work as Felix Lenferink has had us spun for a while, and his house music alias, Frits Wentink, has been crushing releases left and right—most recently, his Goose/Geese/Geeses release for WOLF Music. The record starts off with “Goose,†a track somewhat reminiscent of his remix of Marshall Jefferson’s “Mushrooms.†It’s a deep house groover with a techy low end and a playful, cloud-like synth on top. The next track “Geese,†treads in the same sonic sphere, working a muscular bassline under a series of filtered synths and light vocal sprinkling on top. “Geeses†closes the record on a dreamier note, using an arpeggiated acid bass over a tight analog groove and mellow pads. The release also comes with a remix of “Geeses†by WOLF affiliate, Ishmael, who chills the track out a bit into a nice low key house mix that builds into a psychedelic climax of arpeggios, stabs, and reverb-y atmospherics. You can hear the EP below and grab it on vinyl later this month:
