Coming hot off the intrinsically cool “Stranger,” Chris Malinchak returns just in time for the fall with another signature tune. The not so subtly named “Happiness” pairs Malinchak with another indie dance scene darling, MNEK, for a track that combines Malinchak’s trademark style with a minimalist approach favoring an atmospheric quality evocative of the kinds of sounds artists like Moby used to make in the late 90’s. What results is a feel good, dreamy soundscape not unlike Malinchak’s “So Good To Me” with an unbelievable level of maturity that no doubt stems from Chris Malinchak’s sophistication as a producer.
And if the beat doesn’t take you by storm, surely MNEK’s soothing delivery of the lyrics will. Soft, deliberate, and far from self-indulgent, MNEK is a shining highlight of this track as he coos into track and makes the unknown individual he’s singing to as personal to him as they are to us. We are the vision of happiness that he and Malinchak have; it’s like honest to goodness reciprocation after we’ve fallen in love with them (and their music).
No official release date has been announced yet, but you better believe this track will be huge when it’s finally released.
