Having previously released music with some of the biggest labels in the game, this outing is no different. Out August 13th on Get Physical, Strange Attractions is a two-track EP from Londoners by way of Montreal, Blond:ish — a sensual journey into the world of voyeurism and deviance.
On A-side “Voyeur,” Thomas Gandey sings with a knowing smirk, “you’re good from afar, but you’re far from good…” amidst crisp percussion and a slinking bass line that recalls mischievously watching your neighbor from your bedroom window, as she sunbathes beside her pool. The B-side, “Distant Lover,” is a touch darker, starting with a swell of strings and jazzy percussion as it whisks you away into the depths of a dark, gloomy basement of a nightclub where surely anything goes. The duo strive to defy stereotypes (they’re a pair of blondes), and have done so here, painting a sleazy yet complex portrait of human sexuality.
