Japanese producer, Atsushi Yano, is gearing up for his debut on New York’s Let’s Play House. The Chewy Tunes EP contains 3 super vibey originals and a remix from LPH boss man, Jacques Renault. Each track is built around a strong house groove with varying African influence. It sounds like Yano found a stash of traditional recordings and had his way with them to glorious effect.
“Stomping on the Verge†is a frenetic house stomper with an Italo drive. Renault’s take on the track cools it down a bit, wrapping the voices and percussion around a hypnotic bass groove. “Solid Gold†has a laid back feel, building a house beat under a guitar sample, horn line, and afrobeat bassline. “Allegro After Dark†rounds out the EP, supporting field recordings of traditional song and late night wildlife with a throwback house groove.
